Taking Our Country Back

Did you know that your Congressman or Senator has more to fear from their party leadership than they do not being re-elected by you. Why? Because the seniority system in Washington rewards, not for excellent service, but for staying alive and in their seat. Leadership of the party "punishes" those who get out of line by giving them the worst committee assignments and losing the legislation they write. Also statistically, an incumbent has an 89% chance of being re-elected just because they are the incumbent. Members of Congress have a saying, "It not what they are saying about you that counts, it's that they are talking about you that counts." Name recognition is the name of their game. We have re-elected "cheaters" on their families, ethics violators, fraud perpetrators, and all manner of sleaze bags not because of their deeds, or lack their of, but because we know their names and they have the most money to spend on the election and the fact that we don't go see them, challenge them and hold them accountable.

How do we fix it? First, by imposing term limits. Second, by becoming the "spine" of the representative so they have more to fear from us than the House Speaker or Senate Majority Leader. Third, holding them accountable and letting them hear from us. Age, or seniority, should not determine yours and my future. What should determine it is because they serve us not the other way around. Why do you think this President and Congressional Leadership ignore us? It is because they believe, based on history, they have no fear of reprisal from us when they jam things down our throat. You and I can make sure those days are gone. Let's stand up together and let them know their arrogance and ego-maniacal agenda will not stand. They work for us, not the other way around. IF NOT NOW WHEN, IF NOT US WHO?
